Biography
About
I am a Professor at Aarhus University (Denmark). I have held permanent and visiting positions at University of St.Gallen (Switzerland), Harvard Business School (Harvard University, USA), Saïd Business School (Oxford University, UK) and WU Vienna (Austria). I earned a Ph.D. in Management from the University of St.Gallen (summa cum laude) and a diploma in Business Informatics, a degree focused on the intersection of Business Administration and Computer Science.
I started my professional life in the automotive industry as an intern with Porsche. Thereafter, I joined Accenture as a management consultant. I then became the Editor-in-Chief of the M&A REVIEW, a German monthly focused on mergers and acquisitions and strategic alliances. At the same time, I joined the Ph.D. program in Management at the University of St. Gallen. At the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) I also served as the Executive Director of the Master’s program in Business Management, which was ranked #9 globally by QS Business Schools Rankings 2019 among the General Management programs (#10 in QS Business Schools Rankings 2018).
My research interests focus on corporate strategy, corporate headquarters, strategic change and executive successions. Recently, I have also started to research into how digitalization and ecological challenges influence firms´ strategies. My work has been published in several leading management journals. He has also co-edited several management books on topics such as Mergers & Acquisitions, Strategic Leadership and the Demographic Change. I serve on several Editorial Boards.
In my leisure time, I enjoy hiking and sports including soccer, tennis, squash and table tennis. Specifically, I am a passionate table tennis player.
